Mission & History

Mission

Our mission is to provide a high quality medical transcription training which will prepare our trainees for successful employment in the ever expanding industry of Medical Transcription. We will lead them, one by one.

History

The Exact-Med Transcription Program was started as a private, independent, medical transcription training by Renee Becker who had a passion to bring jobs to rural North Dakota in 2001.

Renee saw the potential impact that good paying jobs in medical transcription could have on rural areas across her home state of North Dakota. Realizing that the best potential for employment is available to those who can transcribe acute care dictation, this became Exact-Med's goal. Out of this concept grew the individualized, competency-based, online, open enrollment program that Exact-Med is currently today.

In 2005, Exact-Med merged with United Tribes Technical College. Exact-Med had grown to a point where the need to take another step forward is what brought about the merger. With the success of our previous trainees, we understood the benefits of needing to hold on to the flexibility that had been proven successful in the past.

The Exact-Med Transcription Program received the AHDI (Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity) Education Program Approval in July of 2006. The Education Program Approval gives the stamp a approval that Exact-Med has met the model curriculum guidelines set by AHDI and ultimately the standards of industry.

To date, Exact-Med continues to grow and improve. Exact-Med’s program has moved to a complete online training in order to serve students on a national level. Als, Exact-Med has had the opportunity to be a part of the design and implementation of the AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) Virtual Lab which will also help to set the national standards for quality training in medical transcription.

The road to success has proven to be that of working with each student individually and treating each student with dignity and respect.
