Mission & History

Mission

Our mission is to provide a high quality medical transcription training program which will prepare our new trainees for successful employment in the ever expanding industry of Medical Transcription.  We will lead them, one by one.

History

Exact-Med Transcription Program was started as a private, independent medical transcription training program by Renee Becker who had a passion to bring jobs to rural North Dakota in 2001.

Renee saw the potential impact that good paying jobs in medical transcription could have on rural areas across her home state.  Realizing that the best potential for employment is available to those who could transcribe acute care dictation, this turned into the goal of training each student individually up to the acute care level.  Out of this concept grew the individualized, competency-based, online, open enrollment program that Exact-Med is currently today.

In 2005, Exact-Med merged with a local college, United Tribes Technical College.  Exact-Med had grown to a point where the need to take another step forward is what brought about the merger.  With the success of our previous trainees, we understood the benefits of needing to hold on to the flexibility that had been proven successful in the past.

Exact-Med Transcription Program received the AHDI (Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity) Program Approval in July of 2006 which gives the stamp of approval to training programs that have met the model curriculum guidelines set out by AHDI and ultimately the industry standards.

To date, Exact-Med continues to grow and improve.  Exact-Med’s program has moved to a complete online training in order to serve students on a national level.  Also Exact-Med has had the opportunity to be a part of the design and implementation of the AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) Virtual Lab which will also help to set the national standards for quality training in medical transcription.

The road to success has proven to be that of working with each student individually and treating each student with dignity and respect.
